The Work
The Nelson family of Stratford, CT wanted to share the story of their son, Ronald, to help reduce the stigma surrounding substance use disorder. After losing Ronald to an overdose in May 2023, they partnered with the Stratford Partnership for Youth and Families to raise awareness and spark conversation within the community. The organization hired Daydream Communications to bring their vision to life through a short film, Ronald’s Story, which honors Ronald’s life and encourages open dialogue about addiction and recovery.

The Process
To ensure Ronald’s Story authentically reflected the Nelson family's experience, our team met with Amy Nelson and the Stratford Partnership for Youth and Families to understand their message and goals. We collaborated with Kyle Norton Photography to produce the film, working closely with Amy throughout the process to refine the narrative and guide her through filming. Our goal was to create a piece that was both deeply personal and impactful, helping to reach those affected by substance use disorder and encourage greater understanding.
